Ponsonby Backpackers is one of the best Backpackers Hostel Accommodation in Auckland and has received many great reviews on TripAdvisor and on HostelBookers. We are a located very close to central Auckland and have hosted thousands of guests over the years.

Auckland's central business district is a leisurely 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus trip, as is the water front. Here you can jump on a ferry and take an adventure to some of the fascinating islands and stunning beaches that the Waitemata harbour has to offer.

The hostel has a gorgeous garden outdoor eating and BBQ area; well-equipped communal kitchen facilities and provide all linen.

Where is Ponsonby Backpackers Located?
Ponsonby Backpackers is located a leisurely 20 minute walk or 5 minute bus trip from Auckland CBD. With a bus stop directly outside the hostel the centre of Auckland is never far away, however Ponsonby offers a huge selection of bars, clubs and shopping all within a few minutes walk. We have experienced, travelled staff who can provide you with tips and help with your trip around the beautiful countryside that New Zealand has to offer. From our hostel you can book trips all across New Zealand, hire a camper van or just get advice about what to do and where to go as you travel on from Ponsonby Backpackers.

When is check out time and what are your opening hours?
Check out is 10am and we are open seven days a week from 8am until 9pm.

Do you have bike storage or bike rental?
We offer both! If you have your own bike with you, it can be safely secured to the building out of site. If you do not have a bike but want to travel around this beautiful city on two wheels, we have a number of bikes available for hire. Just ask us at reception.
